project endurance

In collaboration with United Way of Long Island and Project Etopia Group from the UK, JPA was hired to work on United Way’s latest affordable housing project: a high-efficiency housing development in Suffolk County. In a notoriously unaffordable area, the objective for this project was to deliver a 1,100 square-foot, 3BR, 2BA home meant to act as a model for comfortable, low-cost, high-quality living. Given the ingenuity of the envelope and all-electric setup, demand is diminished for HVAC needs, and a rooftop solar-electric system aims to cover 100% of the projected annual energy demand for the home. In 2023, the project received a 2023 Housing Innovation Award from the U.S. Department of Energy in a ceremony at the Energy and Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) Awards banquet in Salt Lake City, Utah.
